ABOUT THE COALITION
CFAS is a coalition of sociologists doing research in the fields of food and agriculture. Founded during the American Sociological Association Annual Meeting in 2019, CFAS seeks to promote the voices of scholars and activists doing work on food and agricultural systems within the discipline of sociology.

GUIDING OBJECTIVES

We aim to create a section within the American Sociological Association.
​
We aim to build a platform to promote the voices and research of scholars and activists doing work on the topics of food and agricultural systems within the discipline of sociology.
We aim to expand opportunities for people doing work on these topics, to share and promote work in a variety of venues, and to mentor new scholars in the field.
​
We aim to be an inclusive space for the diversity of scholars and practitioners inside and outside of academia doing work on food and agricultural systems.
​
We advocate for food justice and food sovereignty work that utilizes intersectional, anti-racist, anti-colonialist perspectives and methodologies.
